Getting the chance to develop the trophy concept, branding and merchandise for the 2026 Skateboarding New Zealand National Championships was a real full-circle moment.
One of my old Nationals trophies from 1997 was a mini skateboard deck with a plaque — simple, but special. Nearly 30 years later, I had the opportunity to reimagine what winning could look like for the next generation.
The result was a custom championship ring, brought to life by Gregg Fromont and Meadowlark Jewellery. The ring then became the hero artwork across the event branding, prize boards and merchandise.
Seeing it progress from an idea through CAD, production and finally onto the podium was pretty special.
